A Staged, Hybrid Approach Using a Thoracic Branch Endoprosthesis for a Large Kommerell's Diverticulum
We present a case of a 77-year-old male with previous abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) endovascular repair (EVAR) who presented with an asymptomatic 3 cm Kommer ell’s diverticulum amenable for a staged, hybrid repair with a carotid-subclavian bypass, a GORE Thoracic Branch Endoprosthesis, and coil embolization of the right aberrant subclavian artery. Long-Term Follow-Up Results After In Situ Laser Fenestrated Endovascular Treatment of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms
Following laser fenestrated endovascular treatment (LEVAR) of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs), we evaluated the impact of stent indentation in LEVAR, long-term patency of target vessels, and the correlation between laser use and target vessel thrombosis in the long term. Modification of a Custom-Made Fenestrated Device to Adapt to Another Patient ’s Anatomy
To report a case of urgent abdominal aortic aneurysm repair using a fenestrated custom-made device (CMD) created for another patient. The graft was modified with reduction of length and occluding one fenestration with a bovine pericardium patch. (Source: Journal of Vascular Surgery)

The role of the vascular surgeon in transcatheter aortic valve implantation
CONCLUSION: In our experience, Vascular Surgeon assistance in TAVI procedures was not infrequent and allowed safe and effective device introduction through challenging TF access. Similarly, the concomitant significant disease of other vascular districts could be safely addressed, potentially reducing postoperative related mortality and morbidity. The implementation of multidisciplinary team with interventional cardiologists and vascular surgeons should be encouraged whenever possible.PMID:38504140 | DOI:10.1177/17085381241237844 (Source: Vascular)

Systematic review and meta-analysis of incidence, indications, and outcomes of early open conversions after EVAR for abdominal aortic aneurysms
CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of EOC seems to decrease over time. Causes of EOC were mainly related to access problems and incorrect positioning of the endograft. Most of the EOC were performed intraoperatively carrying a high mortality rate.PMID:38502543 | DOI:10.23736/S0392-9590.24.05153-8 (Source: International Angiology)

Unraveling the Impact of Blood Transfusion on Transcription Factors Regulating T Helper 1, 2, 17 and Regulatory T cells
This study aimed`` to evaluate the effect of blood transfusion on gene expression of transcription factors related to the development of TH1, TH2, TH17 and regulatory T cells (Tregs). In this cross-sectional study, 20 patients diagnosed with abdominal aortic aneurysms requiring surgical repair were studied from January 2018 to August 2020. We utilized real-time PCR to evaluate the expression of transcription factor genes associated with TH1, TH2, TH17, and Treg, namely T-box-expressed-in-T-cells (T-bet), GATA-binding protein 3 (GATA-3), retinoid-related orphan receptor (RORγt), and fork head box protein 3 (Foxp3), respect...

Clinical Performance of the Low Profile Zenith Alpha Abdominal Endovascular Graft: 2 Year Results from the ZEPHYR Registry
CONCLUSION: While treatment success is comparable with other commercially available grafts, the rate of limb complications at 2 years is concerning. The manufacturer's instructions for use should be closely followed. Further studies are necessary to investigate the root cause of the increased rate of limb complications with the Zenith Alpha Abdominal Endovascular Graft.PMID:38490356 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejvs.2024.03.004 (Source: PubMed: Eur J Vasc Endovasc ...)
