Biomarkers, Imaging and Patient Reported Outcomes in The Chronic Kidney Disease in Children Study

The Chronic Kidney Disease in Children (CKiD) cohort study, initiated in 2003, was designed to fill critical gaps in our knowledge of kidney disease in children. The primary aims of the study since its inception have been as follows: (1) to identify novel risk factors for chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression; (2) to measure the impact of kidney function decrease on growth, cognition, and behavior; and (3) to characterize the evolution of cardiovascular disease risk factors. The CKiD study is a large observational cohort study of children with kidney diseases and is a network spanning 56 sites in the United States and Canada.
