Barriers and enablers experienced by health care workers in swabbing for COVID-19 in Papua New Guinea: a multi-methods cross-sectional study, November – December 2020

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious respiratory disease caused by the SARS-Cov-2 virus. March 2020, in response to increasing international transmission of the SARS-Cov-2 virus combined with increasing reports of COVID-19 cases, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a pandemic (Cucinotta and Vanelli, 2020). Papua New Guinea (PNG) recorded its first COVID-19 case on 20th March, 2020, and by the end of 2020, a total of 780 confirmed cases had been reported with nine deaths (National Department of Health, 2020b).
