The This Week in Mentalists Awards 2013 – Meet the Judges

Nominations for the This Week in Mentalists Awards 2013 are now open. Please click on this link and leave a comment there to tell us your favourite mental health blogs and vlogs. On November 1st, when the public nominations end, the top three nominees in each category will be passed to our judges. They’ll then have until just before Christmas to pick their favourites, after which the winners will be announced online on Saturday 21st December. So let’s introduce the judges. Please note that they are all acting here in a personal capacity and not on behalf of their respective employers. Please also note that their own blogs will not be eligible for the TWIM Awards. Michael Brown Michael is a serving police inspector who developed a severe and enduring interest in the policing of mental health related demands as soon as he realised that he didn’t know what he was doing as a new operational officer. His MentalHealthCop blog charts this journey and won Michael the Mind Digital Media Award in 2012. He regularly tweets as @mentalhealthcop and runs the most-followed individual Twitter account in the UK police service. He was a recent finalist for an international digital media award in policing. He lectures on mental health and law at several UK universities to students on paramedic, nursing and forensic mental health courses and gave expert evidence in 2013 to the Independent Commision on Policing and Mental Health in London.
