In this study, we evaluated the efficacy of anlotinib as third ‐ or further‐line treatment for patient with different histological types of NSCLC. In the ALTER0303 trial, 336 patients had the histological subtype of adenocarcinoma (ACC), 86 patients had the histological subtype of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and 15 patients had another subtype. Conclusions18 candidate mutations might alter the risk of lung cancer in the Han Chinese population, including polymorphisms rs3864017(FANCD2), rs55740729(MSH6) and 16 rare variants. The underlying mechanisms of candidate genes in lung cancer remain unclear and we suggest more functional studies on exploring how these genes affect the risk of lung cancer.

Accounting for 18% of all cancer-related deaths, lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide[1]. It comprises two main subtypes, small-cell and non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the latter representing over 80% of lung cancers. NSCLC is further divided by histologic subtypes. Adenocarcinoma (ADC) (60%) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) (35%) are the most common, each with distinct genomic profiles [2,3].
