Behcet's Disease With Cerebral Artery Infarction Caused by Cerebral Arteritis as an Early Symptom Only With Elevated Interleukin-8

Conclusion: This case demonstrates that neurological involvement might be an early symptom of BD. IL-8 could act as a novel target for the treatment of BD theoretically and probably play a key role in disease recovery.

Authors: Tanemoto M, Hisahara S, Hirose B, Ikeda K, Matsushita T, Suzuki S, Manabe T, Imai T, Shimohama S Abstract Rheumatoid vasculitis (RV) usually occurs in patients with refractory rheumatoid arthritis (RA). An 80-year-old woman was transferred to our hospital because of muscle weakness and paresthesia in all 4 limbs. She had been diagnosed with RA 30 years ago and achieved sustained clinical remission. At presentation, polyarthritis and drop foot were observed, and rheumatoid factor was prominently elevated. A peripheral nerve conduction test revealed mononeuritis multiplex in her limbs. We suspected that RV h...

She did not meet the international classification criteria of dermatomyositis/polymyositis, as we observed no muscle weakness, grasping pain or electromyography abnormality in her limbs, and anti-ARS antibody was negative. Cervical magnetic resonance imaging and a muscle biopsy of the trapezius muscle revealed my...

Although the mechanism of psoriasis has not been fully understood so far, much progress has been made in understanding many of its complex potential mechanism, particularly the crucial role of the IL-23/Th17 axis. There are a large number of psoriasis models that reflect the complexity of the psoriasis mechanisms. In this revie...

Authors: Schilling EM, Weinrich M, Heller T, Koball S, Neumann A Abstract Our patient exhibited a large tumor on his right upper arm where his former dialysis access site had been. X-ray, Doppler ultrasound, and magnetic resonance imaging scan could not fully reveal the nature of that tumor. Eventually, a surgical approach showed a giant aneurysm of the inflowing brachial artery to a partially obliterated arteriovenous fistula. This case highlights the importance of ongoing care for patients with arteriovenous shunts. Even arteriovenous fistulas, that are obliterated or no longer in use, can, especially when immuno...
