High sedentary behaviour and low physical activity levels at 12 months after cardiac rehabilitation: a prospective cohort study

Conclusions: Most cardiac rehabilitation participants did not meet the physical activity guidelines during and after a 6-week program up to 12 months. Reducing sedentary behaviour may be a more achievable first-line strategy for cardiac patients, moving participants along the energy expenditure continuum, aiming to increase their physical activity levels over the medium to long term.Trial registration: Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry (ANZCTR): ACTRN12615000995572, http://www.ANZCTR.org.au/ACTRN12615000995572.aspx
