Elevated lipoprotein (A), small APO (A), and the risk of arterial ischemic stroke in U.S. children.
CONCLUSIONS: Elevated Lp(a) and small apo(a) potently increase the risk of recurrent AIS in children, the mechanism for which is only partially attributable to impaired fibrinolysis. Collaborative studies are warranted to further investigate these findings, and more broadly to establish key risk factors for incident and recurrent arterial ischemic stroke in children.
