Survivals of patients with surgically treated and High‐grade pancreatic neuroendocrine carcinomas: A comparative study between two American Joint Committee on Cancer 8th tumor-node-metastasis staging systems

Publication date: Available online 11 January 2019Source: European Journal of Surgical OncologyAuthor(s): Min Yang, Yi Zhang, Lin Zeng, Neng-wen Ke, Chun-lu Tan, Bo-le Tian, Bo Xiang, Xu-bao LiuAbstractBackground and objectiveWe aimed to compare the two new defined tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) systems in the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) 8th staging manual for overall survival (OS) analysis of G3 pancreatic neuroendocrine carcinomas (p-NECs) that are currently proposed for pancreatic exocrine adenocarcinomas (p-EACs) and G1/G2 pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (p-NETs), respectively.MethodsThe data of patients who were surgically treated and histopathologically diagnosed with G3 p-NECs at West China Hospital of Sichuan University from January 2002 to June 2017 were retrospectively analyzed and compared using the two new AJCC staging systems.ResultsApplying the p-EAC AJCC 8th TNM staging system to G3 p-NECs, the estimated 3-year OSs for each stage were 86.7%, 76.0%, 44.5% and 20.7%, respectively (P

RAS protein activator like 2 (RASAL2) belongs to the RAS GTPase-activating protein family and plays an important role in several cancers, including ovarian cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma, malignant astrocytoma, renal cell carcinoma, bladder cancer, colorectal cancer, liver cancer, triple-negative breast cancer, lung adenocarcinoma, and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Traditionally, RASAL2 has been regarded as a tumor suppressor but recent studies have found that it is an oncogene in specific types of cancer, such as colorectal cancer, liver cancer, triple-negative breast cancer, triple-negative/estrogen receptor-negati...

CONCLUSIONS: In this review, we outline the status and application of PDX models in both basic and pre-clinical pancreatic cancer researches. PDX model is one of the most appropriate pre-clinical tools that can improve the prognosis of patients with pancreatic cancer in the future. PMID: 31725451 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ysal-Onganer Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is one of the deadliest forms of cancer, proving difficult to manage clinically. Wnt-11, a developmentally regulated gene producing a secreted protein, has been associated with various carcinomas but has not previously been studied in PDAC. The present study aimed to elucidate these aspects first in vitro and then in a clinical setting in vivo. Molecular analyses of Wnt-11 expression as well as other biomarkers involved qRT-PCR, RNA-seq and siRNA. Proliferation was measured by MTT; invasiveness was quantified by Boyden chamber (Matrigel) assay. Wnt-11 mRNA was presen...

NguyenAbstract18F-Fluciclovine is used in the PET/CT evaluation of prostatic cancer recurrence, with 11C-Choline and 68Ga-PSMA as alternative choices of radiotracers. 18F-Fluciclovine has been reported with incidental PET/CT imaging of recurrent pancreatic adenocarcinoma and nodal metastasis from penile squamous cell carcinoma. To these PET/CT depictions of non-prostatic neoplasms, the authors add a case of urothelial carcinoma demonstrated durin...

Abstract The classification of ampullary adenocarcinoma into intestinal and pancreatobiliary sub-types has been found to be important in predicting prognosis and determining therapeutic strategy. Due to considerable inter-observer variability in sub-typing based solely on morphology, higher frequency of poorly differentiated cancers and low incidence of the disease, the histomorphologic classification of ampullary adenocarcinoma remains one of the grey zones in surgical pathology. Pan-IN is a well recognized precursor to pancreatic adenocarcinoma. Three studies have shown concurrent Pan-IN in patients with ampulla...

ConclusionsThe relevance of SPARC expression in pancreato-biliary carcinomas though may still be important for therapeutic decision making, it is not responsible for peritumoral stromal desmoplasia in these tumors and it does not have any significant prognostic implication.

ConclusionThe results of our series of 13 cases indicate that intraoral soft tissue metastatic carcinomas have a male predilection with a male to female ratio of 11:2, are commonly found in the gingiva and alveolar mucosa (76.9%), present frequently as an easy-bleeding pyogenic granuloma-like lesion (92.3%). In addition, the most common primary cancer site is the liver.

AbstractBackgroundKRAS GA are common oncogenic drivers. Effective systemic treatment of KRAS altered cancers has been largely elusive; however covalent inhibitors of G12C (AMG510, MRTX849) and SHP2 inhibitors (TNO155, RMC-4630) have recently entered the clinic in multiple tumor types.MethodsHybrid capture-based comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) was performed on tumor samples from 213,312 unique patients with solid or hematological malignancies. Tumor mutational burden (TMB) was determined on 0.8-1.1 Mbp of sequenced DNA. PD-L1 expression was determined by IHC (22C3 or SP142 antibodies) for 17% of cases.ResultsKRAS GA w...
