This study is focused on comparison of the dissolution behavior of matrix tablets (based on hypromellose and/or glyceryl behenate as retarding agent) of the same composition containing different type of drug – ionizing tramadol hydrochloride (TH) and non-ionizing pentoxifylline (PTX). The dissolution tests were performed in acidic medium (pH 1.2) and in alcoholic medim (20%, 40% of ethanol) and the changes of tablets were observed also photographically. It was found that the alcohol resistence of the hydrophilic-lipophilic formulations with TH and the hydrophilic-lipophilic formulations with PTX containing a higher am...

El-MasAbstractWidely different exposure times to endotoxic insults have been employed in reported studies. The current experimental study systematically evaluated the time-course and sex influences of endotoxic insult on survivability and cardiovascular and renal functions. Rats received i.p. lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 5 mg/kg) once or twice (over 2 successive days). Systolic blood pressure (SBP), biomarkers of renal function and inflammation, and vasodilator responsiveness of isol...

In conclusion, the results suggest that, because of its bioactivity including the antioxidant, antimicrobial, and enzyme inhibition properties, the D. macrolepis can be accepted as a promising and natural source for the industrial applications. The present study is the first study, in which the bioactive components and the antioxidant, antimicrobial, and enzyme inhibition properties of endemic D. macrolepis plant were determined.

In this study, focal cerebral ischemia model was built by middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) for 2h followed by reperfusion. The investigation was carried out on 48 rats that were arranged into four groups (n=12): the sham group, I/R control group, I/R+propolis (50 mg/kg) group and I/R+propolis (100 mg/kg) group. The results revealed that propolis preserved rats against neuronal injury induced by cerebral I/R. It significantly reduced neurological deficit scores and improved motor coordination and locomotor activity in I/R rats. Propolis antagonized the damage induced by cerebral I/R through suppression of malondialde...

This study investigating a multiphenotypic approach, based on the comparative study of a wild type strain of P. aeruginosa, its isogenic OprF mutant. Both P. aeruginosa PAO1 and OprF mutant strains were grown in same condition and cultures were subjected to further analysis by SDS PAGE, pyocyanin production and biofilm formation that was analyse using scanning electron microscopy. Based on biofilm formation essay and pyocyanin production, the study showed that OprF plays a dynamic role in P. aeruginosa virulence. The absence of OprF results in slow growth rate corresponded to elongated lag phase and reduced biofilm product...

AbuelizzAbstractBackgroundMiddle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) is a respiratory disease caused by a novel coronavirus that was identified in 2012 in Saudi Arabia. It is associated with significant mortality and morbidity. We identified factors associated with the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus (MERSā€CoV) infection among suspected cases presented with sign and symptoms of upper respiratory infection or exposure to the virus. We also looked at the impact of medication history on vi...
