N-Terminal Pro B-Type Natriuretic Peptide Is Inversely Correlated With Low Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol In The Very Elderly

Conclusion Our real-life clinical study supports the hypothesis that NPs play a role on cholesterol metabolism, given the association found between LDLc and NT-proBNP even in very elderly patients where NT-proBNP values are often in the pathological range.

Authors: Saritas T, Floege J Abstract Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are at increased risk for kidney failure, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and death. In fact, the likelihood of dying from CVD is markedly higher than that for reaching end-stage renal disease. Evidence-based management of comorbidities such as CVD remains challenging in patients with advanced CKD, as they were usually excluded from randomized controlled trials. This review focuses on the epidemiology, risk factors, and clinical manifestations of CVD in patients with advanced CKD. Specific topics of interest include diagnostic and therap...

When one of my teachers said "End diastolic volume decreases in systolic heart failure" and stuck with that assertion after I questioned it, I knew that I should stick to a textbook for instruction. I'm rewatching a cell phone video of a foot amputation we got to see and I'm wondering how "correct" the surgical... How can you tell if a surgeon is good?

CONCLUSION: The predominance of severe food insecurity occurred in overweight and obese mothers with inadequate dietary diversity. This probably happened because of a lack of access to food to adequately meet the nutritional needs of each member of the family. The results suggest that health promotion with actions aimed at food security is a priority within an integral action plan for natural disasters. PMID: 31937106 [PubMed - in process]
