Effects of electroacupuncture stimulation at different spinal segmental levels in a rat model of diabetes mellitus.

CONCLUSION: EA at Weiwanxiashu and BL15 had differential effects on metabolic markers in the STZ-induced rat model of DM. These effects may be explained neuroanatomically by variations in the segmental innervation of the tissues at these locations. PMID: 28751464 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

BackgroundData on treatment results of lipid‐lowering therapy (LLT) in familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) are limited, particularly in Asian patients. HypothesisWe sought to evaluate the target achievement rate and associated variables in Korean patients with FH after maximal statin‐based LLT. MethodsWe enrolled 146 patients with heterozygous FH, and 90 patients were finally analyzed. Patients were initially prescribed rosuvastatin 10 mg or atorvastatin 20 mg, and the regimen was adjusted to achieve the low‐density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL‐C) target of 100 mg/dL. The primary evaluation poin...

CONCLUSION: In summary, we found a rate of 2.8% CVE after LT in a German transplant cohort. Pretransplant CHD was the only risk factor for CVE, but showed no significant impact on overall survival. PMID: 29229303 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CONCLUSIONS: In our population of T2DM, HbA1c, LDL cholesterol and BP targets were achieved in a substantial proportion of patients (67-91%). Perhaps the intense and individualized care offered through a specialized diabetes unit may explain these results. PMID: 29215656 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

CONCLUSIONS: These findings indicated that sitagliptin administration ameliorated the lipid and lipoprotein profiles in patients with diabetes, which may be due to the decrease in atherogenic remnant lipoproteins (UMIN#000013218). PMID: 29199201 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Abstract BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: In France, diabetes mellitus is now the second cause of end stage renal disease. In a large previous French national study, we observed that dialyzed diabetics have a significant lower risk of death by cancer. This first study was focused on cancer death but did not investigate cancer incidence. In this context, the aim of this second study was to compare the incidence of cancer in diabetic dialyzed patients compared to non-diabetic dialyzed patients in a French region. METHODS: This epidemiologic multicentric study included 588 diabetic and non-diabetic patients starting h...

Background: The aim of this study was to examine whether there is a relationship between sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) and metabolic syndrome in a sample of outpatients with diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM2).Methods: Metabolic syndrome was determined in the baseline survey of the DIACORE-SDB substudy, a prospectively planned study of Diabetes mellitus 2 (DM2) patients. According to the NCEP (National Cholesterol Education Program) criteria, a metabolic syndrome was diagnosed if at least three of the following criteria were present: Waist circumference>102cm (men) />88cm (women), sober triglycerides>150 md/dl, HDL ...
