Diabetes 'more frequent in children with juvenile inflammatory arthritis'

This study backs up recent findings that diabetes is more common in people with rheumatoid arthritis than the general population; however, the reasons for this are not yet well understood. There is a growing appreciation of the links between different autoimmune diseases, and further research will be important to fully understand the relationship between juvenile inflammatory arthritis and diabetes - an approach that may lead to new treatments for both conditions."
