Autoimmune pancreatitis : An update.

[Autoimmune pancreatitis : An update]. Radiologe. 2016 Mar 30; Authors: Helmberger T Abstract CLINICAL/METHODICAL ISSUE: Autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) is a rare disease, the pathophysiological understanding of which has been greatly improved over the last years. The most common form, type 1 AIP belongs to the IgG4-related diseases and must be distinguished from type 2 AIP, which is a much rarer entity associated with chronic inflammatory bowel disease. Clinically, there is an overlap with pancreatic cancer. Imaging and further criteria, such as serological and histological parameters are utilized for a differentiation between both entities in order to select the appropriate therapy and to avoid the small but ultimately unnecessary number of pancreatectomies. PERFORMANCE: The diagnostics of AIP are complex, whereby the consensus criteria of the International Association of Pancreatology have become accepted as the parameters for discrimination. These encompass five cardinal criteria and one therapeutic criterion. By applying these criteria AIP can be diagnosed with a sensitivity of 84.9 %, a specificity of 100 % and an accuracy of 93.8 %. ACHIEVEMENTS: The diagnosis of AIP is accomplished by applying several parameters of which two relate to imaging. As for the routine diagnostics of the pancreas these are ultrasound, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Important for the differential diag...

CONCLUSION: Extensive research have been carried out on various process for preparing Bortezomib and composition thereof. This type of dynamic research will clear the path for many generic players in the United States which lead in reduction of price of the composition and thereby enhancing global health care at cheaper prices. OBJECTIVES: Aromatase inhibitors are the first-choice drugs for the treatment of hormone sensitive breast cancer. However, in addition to the scarcity of studies, there are controversies about their effects on vaginal epithelial cell proliferation in rats, especially those in persistent estrus. METHODS: To investigate vaginal epithelial cell proliferation by Ki-67 antigen expression, persistent estrus was induced in 42 randomly selected rats. These rats were randomly divided into 2 groups: group I (control, n=21), which received 0.1 mL of propylene glycol (vehicle) daily, and group II (experimental, n=21), which received 0...

Authors: Okamura K, Bandai S, Fujikawa M, Sato K, Kitazono T Abstract The treatment of Graves' hyperthyroidism (GD) complicated with malignancy is challenging, as anti-thyroid thionamide drugs (ATDs) and anti-cancer chemotherapy are both associated with a risk of neutropenia. Treatment with conventional ATDs, radioactive iodine (RAI) or potassium iodide (KI) was attempted in 8 patients with malignancy (34-80 years of age; 2 males and 6 females) in whom GD had been fortuitously diagnosed during a detailed systematic examination. Three patients requiring surgery were initially treated conventionally with methylmercap...

In this study, we developed a cross-correlation (CC)-based method for automated IVC movement tracking and measurement, which requires minimal manual input and avoids manual selection of reference markers. Based on the CC method, two approaches, named direct and relative approaches, were used to calculate the maximum, minimum, and variation of the IVC diameter, and compared with the manual measurement. Fifty-four ultrasound cine-loops collected from nine pigs were tested. The results reveal that both the proposed approaches were well agreed with the manual measurement. The errors of the direct approach were less than 9%, wh...

Authors: Prieux-Klotz C, Dermine S, Palmieri LJ, Lavole J, Chaussade S, Brezault C, Coriat R Abstract Targeted therapy and oral chemotherapy indications are increasing in the realm of digestive oncology. Oral intake of cancer agents is sometimes compulsory (no i.v. equivalent) or is preferred by the patient or the physician. Although oral chemotherapy facilitates the treatment of oncology patients, the treatment diversity, risk of pharmaceutical interactions and monitoring of side effects are potentially challenging and need to be fully acknowledged by the physician. We offer here a literature review of the indicat...

Authors: Hu W, Su Y, Fei X, Wang X, Zhang G, Su C, Du T, Yang T, Wang G, Tang Z, Zhang J Abstract Ubiquitin specific peptidase 19 (USP19) is a member of the USP family and exhibits diverse roles in various biological processes, such as cell differentiation, cell cycle progression and apoptosis. There is limited knowledge regarding the role and impact of USP19 in cancer, particularly clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). To examine the function of USP19 in ccRCC, The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus databases were examined to determine USP19 mRNA expression levels. USP19 mRNA levels were sig...

Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 1 in glioblastoma‑associated microglia/macrophages. Oncol Rep. 2020 Mar 19;: Authors: Lisi L, Pia Ciotti GM, Chiavari M, Ruffini F, Lacal PM, Graziani G, Navarra P Abstract The anti‑vascular endothelial growth factor‑A (VEGF‑A) monoclonal antibody (mAb) bevacizumab is an FDA‑approved monotherapy for the treatment of recurrent glioblastoma (GB), a highly angiogenic and infiltrative tumour. However, bevacizumab does not increase overall survival and blockade of VEGF‑A/VEGF receptor (VEGFR)‑2 signal transduction is associated with severe adverse ef...

17‑AAG synergizes with Belinostat to exhibit a negative effect on the proliferation and invasion of MDA‑MB‑231 breast cancer cells. Oncol Rep. 2020 Mar 26;: Authors: Zuo Y, Xu H, Chen Z, Xiong F, Zhang B, Chen K, Jiang H, Luo C, Zhang H Abstract Breast cancer is one of the most common malignancies that threaten the health of women. Although there are a few chemotherapies for the clinical treatment of breast cancer, these therapies are faced with the problems of drug‑resistance and metastasis. Drug combination can help to reduce the adverse side effects of chemotherapies using single drugs, and ...

In conclusion, the five differentially expressed miRNAs may be considered as diagnostic biomarkers for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. In addition, the differential expression levels of the targets of these five mRNAs, including SFRP1, EDNRB, NR4A3, FHL2, NKX3‑1, IL6ST and FOXO1, may be involved in hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis.
