Total Physical Activity, Plant-based Diet and Neurodegenerative Diseases: A Prospective Cohort Study of the UK Biobank

Background: Neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs), characterized as incurable conditions, result from a complex interplay of genetic, environmental and aging factors. Balanced diets and adequate physical activity (PA) are recognized as pivotal components among modifiable environmental factors. The independent impact of PA and healthy diets on NDD incidence has been previously debated, prompting an investigation into their specific effects on the most prevalent NDDs, particularly considering varied levels of plant-based dietary regimen.
