A Single-Center Analysis of Lung Transplantation Outcomes Comparing Donation After Circulatory Death and Donation After Brain Death
Purpose: While the majority of lung transplants (LTx) are from donation after brain death (DBD), donation after circulatory death (DCD) has emerged as a strategy to increase the donor organ pool. There is significant variability in DCD utilization across geographic regions and individual centers in the United States, yet the majority of studies on DCD LTx analyze national transplant registry data that may not reflect these differences. We performed a single-center study comparing outcomes for DCD and DBD LTx.
