A family intervention to prevent postoperative delirium in patients undergoing cardiac valve surgery: A randomized controlled study
Valvular heart disease (VHD) is a common cause of cardiovascular disease, afflicting approximately 25 million patients in China.1 Surgical repair and replacement are commonly required as the primary treatment for VHD. As the population ages, the number of patients requiring cardiac valve surgery is expected to increase as well.2 Although surgery extends the survival of patients,3 related postoperative complications are gradually emerging. Delirium is a common neurological complication of VHD, with a high incidence of 33.0% −56.0%.
