Salt-sensitive trait of normotensive individualsis associated with altered autonomous cardiac regulation: a randomized controlled intervention study
CONCLUSIONS: Salt sensitivity in normotensive individuals is not driven by extracellular fluid expansion. Yet, it is associated with an inability to decrease SVR upon high salt intake that is accompanied by alterations in autonomous cardiac regulation, as reflected by decreased cross-correlation baroreceptor sensitivity and heart rate variability.PMID:37795535 | DOI:10.1152/ajprenal.00076.2023
