ConclusionsFindings underscore the importance of distinguishing between urban non-Appalachian, urban Appalachian, rural non-Appalachian, and rural Appalachian populations when assessing health disparities. While the trends of obesity and obesity-related health outcomes did not differ, the association between health behaviors and obesity-related outcomes differed by rural and Appalachian residency.
