Reply to comment on: "Association between use of low-dose aspirin and detection of colorectal polyps and cancer in a screening setting"

We thank Professor Shih-Wei Lai for his interest in our manuscript. As stated by Professor Lai, our study was a cross-sectional study, where we evaluated the association between use of aspirin and detection of colorectal cancer and its precursor lesions in individuals who attended the screening [1,2]. We agree that, given the design of the study, no causal relationship between exposure and outcome could be determined. In fact, our conclusions do not imply causality and only point out the association between the exposure and the outcome.
