Incorporation of Eye-Tracking and Gaze Feedback to Characterize and Improve Radiologist Search Patterns of Chest X-rays: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial
This study used eye tracking to analyze search patterns, quantify performance metrics, and evaluate the impact of an automated continuous improvement feedback-driven framework on detection accuracy. In a controlled trial with ten residents, the intervention group (received feedback) demonstrated a significant 38.9% absolute improvement in detecting suspicious pulmonary nodules compared to the control group (5.6%, p=0.006). Early effects of different brain radiotherapy modalities on circulating leucocyte subpopulations in rodents
CONCLUSIONS: Leucocyte subpopulations reacted differently to X-ray or proton brain irradiation. This difference could be partly explained by LN exposure to radiation dose. Further researches and analyses on other biological processes and interactions between leucocyte subpopulations are ongoing. The various mechanisms underlying leucocyte subpopulation changes under different irradiation modalities may have implications for the choice of radiotherapy modalities and their combination with immunotherapy in brain cancer treatment.PMID:38466699 | DOI:10.1080/09553002.2024.2324471 (Source: International Journal of Radiation Biology)

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1124: Impact of Bisphosphonate Therapy on Oral Health in Patients with Breast and Prostate Cancer and Bone Metastases: A Comprehensive Study
This study investigates the impact of bisphosphonate therapy on the stomatognathic system in 80 patients with cancer of the breast and prostate with bone metastases. Bisphosphonates are integral for managing skeletal complications in these malignancies but are associated with bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (BRONJ), affecting 0.8–18.5% of patients. BRONJ manifests with pain, neuropathy, tissue swelling, mucosal ulceration, tooth mobility, and abscesses, yet its pathogenesis remains elusive, complicating risk prediction. The research employed comprehensive dental and radiological evaluations. D...

Classification of Lung Diseases Using an Attention-Based Modified DenseNet Model
AbstractLung diseases represent a significant global health threat, impacting both well-being and mortality rates. Diagnostic procedures such as Computed Tomography (CT) scans and X-ray imaging play a pivotal role in identifying these conditions. X-rays, due to their easy accessibility and affordability, serve as a convenient and cost-effective option for diagnosing lung diseases. Our proposed method utilized the Contrast-Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (CLAHE) enhancement technique on X-ray images to highlight the key feature maps related to lung diseases using DenseNet201. We have augmented the existing Densenet2...
