TB Quantiferon Gold positive -_-
Went through pre employment health screening and my TB Quantiferon gold is officially now positive. Getting chest xray obviously. But has anyone gone through workman's comp for these things? I mean i obviously got exposed at work at some point. Also any opinions on 3 months rifampin + isoniazid vs 4 months ritampin only regimen, for what I'm assuming will be latent disease. Tips for building an urgent care?
I'm helping a family member set up an urgent care center. Any tips? How many rooms should we build? The more, the merrier? What's the general trend in urgent cares? Do urgent cares usually have CTs or just x-rays? Any other advice or tips? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Arm amputated after ED visit [Med Mal Case]
Link to case 40-year-old man seen in the ED with progressively enlarging mass on his arm. X-rays show no bony abnormality, discharged, told to go see PCP. Patient did not go see a PCP, but about a year later had a workup finally showing a tumor. They tried to save the arm but couldnt, amputated below the elbow. ED doc from the first visit gets sued. Basic issue boils down to who's fault this is: Is it the doctors fault for... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

You Don't Have to be a Rad Onc MD to do Rad Onc
Know the headline shocks the conscience a bit. But what is a rad onc? What do those in this "increasingly popular specialty" do? If a rad onc is a "physician who uses ionizing radiation (such as megavoltage X-rays or radionuclides) in the treatment of cancer," you absolutely do not have to do a rad onc residency to be a radiation... Learning Radiology for Step 1
Anyone have any resources they learned to understand basic radiologic findings (xrays, ultrasounds, etc)? Not looking for anything deep, just would like to be able to identify where the lesion/mass is on a given radiograph. I'm working through the Q banks rn (step 1 in 6mo) and literally have no clue about anything radiology. We had a radiology class in school but honestly none of it really stuck long-term. Technology and clinic
This isn't the paper chart age anymore. What are some recent technological advances you are using in clinic to offer a better patient experience? A laptop/ipad with stylus so you can draw on people's x-rays? Something other than youtube to show the Dr. Glass video on how an evans corrects a flatfoot? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Dental x rays
local Invisalign orthodontists in my area give free quotes (including x Ray). Is that safe? I’d imagine some people might go for multiple quotes to different providers. Do radiologists provide dentists guidelines? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Fraud
I was recently hired as a consultant to review claims for services provided by about 2 dozen DPMs. The fraud and the abuse are staggering. Most of those involved are young associates in private practices. The practice owners impressed these associates with how much money they can make if they bill as instructed. I have reviewed cases for an initial visit with unilateral heel pain. The patient ended up with BILATERAL xrays, ultrasound and fluoroscopy all for “comparison”. Patients...
