Centers for Oceans and Human Health 3: Impacts of Climate Change on Oceans and Great Lakes (COHH3) (P01)
Funding Opportunity RFA-ES-16-009 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite applications for multi-component projects that will investigate the impact of climate change on emerging public health threats associated with marine and Great Lakes Basin environments. The focus of the program will be to support research on the exposures, toxicities and human health impacts that arise in these environments and how climate change is influencing these factors now and in the future. The FOA solicits applications that will achieve program goals through integ...

Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Great Rivers CESU
The objectives of this research are: 1. to document the sensitivity of the mayfly Neocloeon triangulifer to toxic effects of nickel and zinc, based on chronic toxicity tests with four natural waters with extreme values of parameters known to affect toxicity of metals (pH, hardness, DOC); and 2. to evaluate whether Biotic Ligand Models reliably predict variation in effect concentrations for toxic effects of nickel and zinc to N. triangulifer across a range of water chemistries. NIH-CASIS Coordinated Microphysiological Systems Program for Translational Research in Space (UG3/UH3)
Funding Opportunity RFA-TR-16-019 from the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts. The purpose of this FOA is to promote the development of in vitro microphysiological systems in modeling human diseases and conditions that mimic the pathology in major organs and tissues in the human body, when exposed to the extreme environments of space, and the use of these models at the International Space Station-U.S. National Laboratory (ISS-NL) to facilitate the assessment of biomarkers, bioavailability, efficacy, and toxicity of therapeutic agents prior to entry into clinical trials.
