Cooperative Ecosystem Studies Unit, Great Rivers CESU

The objectives of this research are: 1. to document the sensitivity of the mayfly Neocloeon triangulifer to toxic effects of nickel and zinc, based on chronic toxicity tests with four natural waters with extreme values of parameters known to affect toxicity of metals (pH, hardness, DOC); and 2. to evaluate whether Biotic Ligand Models reliably predict variation in effect concentrations for toxic effects of nickel and zinc to N. triangulifer across a range of water chemistries.
