Biological Features of CD5+ CD19+ B1 Cell and Natural IgM (VH4-34) in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia vs. Multiple Sclerosis
Iran J Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2022 Dec 24;21(6):670-676. doi: 10.18502/ijaai.v21i6.11527.ABSTRACTChronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is the clonal expansion of mature CD5+ B cells and the most common lymphoproliferative disease in adults (B1-CLL). B1 cells' anti-inflammatory effects include the production of natural IgM (nIgM) by the spleen and bone marrow, decreased inflammatory cytokines as a primary response to maintaining tissue homeostasis, and enhanced release of transforming growth factor β (TGFβ). We used the flow cytometry technique in peripheral blood from patients with CLL and multiple sclerosis (MS) to immuno...

Regional Disparities in the Use of Septal Reduction Therapy and Associated Outcomes in the United States (from a Real-World Database)
The regional differences in the use of septal reduction therapies and the associated outcomes in patients with Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM) are unknown. The primary objective of our study was to evaluate the regional disparities in the use of septal reduction therapies, including septal myectomy and alcohol septal ablation, in patients with HOCM. The secondary objective was to analyze the regional differences in the outcomes in these patients. Patients with HOCM had 87% higher risk-adjusted odds of getting septal myectomy (adjusted odds ratio 1.87, p  = 0.03) and 37% lower risk-adjusted odds of gettin...

Origin and evolution of subtype B variants in the former Soviet Union countries
The objective of this analysis was to investigate the origin and transmission routes of HIV subtype B in FSU countries. We performed phylogenetic and phylodynamic analyses using 21,007 publicly available subtype B sequences from Europe and Asia, including thirteen FSU countries. Our study suggests that BFSU strain evolved more recently in FSU countries (Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Belarus, Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan) compared to the Western B variant in Western Europe (Austria, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland). The primary high-risk group responsible for ...
