cystic fibrosis and criopreservation umbilical cord blood and tissue
We have a daughter of 10 months with cystic fibrosis (mutations F508del and N1303K). She was diagnosed at 5 months after 4 admissions. We saved (criopreservation) the stem cells of tissue and blood of umbilical cord of our daughter, and we still saved the umbilical cord blood of our son, older (does not carry the defective gene, he is healthy). Anyone know or can clarify me the following issues: 1. We can use the steam cells of tissue or cord blood of our daughter with healing perspectives? 2. And the brother’s umbilical cord blood? 3. Me and my husband we are 'A Rh positive' as my son, but my daughter is 'A Rh nega...

US High School Student - What are my chances/
Hello, I've been extremely interested in medicine ever since I could remember and I'm originally from Belgium and want to try and return to Europe but still wanted the English language. What are my chances of getting into the following schools: University of Aberdeen, Queens University Belfast, University of Glasgow and East Anglia (If you other suggestions please offer them). By the end of 12th grade I'll have taken 14 APs including Biology, Physics and Chemistry. However, I received a 4 on AP Biology so I've decided to apply using my SAT II scores which for biology was 720 and chemistry 730. I'll be taking a math SAT in...

more hype and hope?
Someone (and I can't remember who) said that stem cell therapy is more about hype and hope than actual benefit and certainly lots of cardiology stem cell trials have been negative. This news bite on the bbc website caught my eye? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-28694656 more of the same? sadian (Source: Doc2Doc BMJ Cardiology)

plastic surgery
by mabroorbhatty (Posted Sat Jul 19, 2014 4:10 pm)The stem cell face lift is gaining more notoriety. In a stem cell face lift, the areas on the face where additional volume is desired are outlined with a surgical marker. Your surgeon will also mark the incision sites through which the fat will be injected. The incisions are small (approximately 2 to 3 millimeters in length). They are usually hidden with the lines around the eyes (crow’s feet) for upper face fat injection and in the corners of the mouth for lower face fat injection. (Source: Med Student Guide)

My Next Stem Cell Treatment, Need Your Help
I am 53 and planning to go in for my 3rd adult stem cell treatment in Sept. Should be off oxygen by Thanksgiving as a result. I know another CF Warrior going in a couple of weeks, and can't wait to hear about her results in the next few months. Can't disclose her name, because most CF docs get hostile about this. I had to leave Nashville/Vandy for that very reason. My CF doc in S. FL does not believe the stem cells work. He says, "You have no proof." But at least I can have an adult conversation with him. I told him that I am the proof. 3 years ago I had both feet in the grave with only weeks to live. 4 tuneups a...

Stem Cell Therapy- Has anybody done it or know anyone who has?
I have been doing research on this for several years but have not talked to anyone who has done it. It sounds like it might work but it might also be a scam. (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Alternative Medicine Forum)

Does doing a meta analysis count as research(unpublished)?
Hi all, I haven't found any posts on this(indicating I'm either an idiot for thinking of this as research or no one has had this situation) so I figured I'd try. I did a library/ metaanalysis for part of my bio class on the effects of stem cell treatment on MS and was wondering if this counts as doing research. It was with two other people, for a grade and in pubishable format but unpublished. Thanks, HeronsBeak (Source: Student Doctor Network Forums)
