Incidence of myopericarditis after mRNA COVID-19 vaccination: A meta-analysis with focus on adolescents aged 12-17  years
CONCLUSIONS: The incidences of myopericarditis after mRNA COVID-19 vaccination among adolescents aged 12-17 years were very rare; they were not higher than other important reference incidences. These findings provide an important context for health policy makers and parents with vaccination hesitancy to weight the risks and benefits of mRNA COVID-19 vaccination among adolescents aged 12-17 years.PMID:37246067 | PMC:PMC10201323 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.05.049 (Source: Vaccine)

Sexual orientation was associated with intention to be vaccinated with a smallpox vaccine against mpox: A cross-sectional preliminary survey in Japan
Vaccine. 2023 May 24:S0264-410X(23)00611-4. doi: 10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.05.050. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis survey aimed to assess the prevalence of intention to receive smallpox vaccine against mpox and its relationship with sexual orientation in Japan. A cross-sectional online survey was conducted in September-October 2022, with 12,900 assigned males and 13,413 assigned females participating. Modified Poisson regression analyses were performed to determine the relationship between vaccine willingness and sexual orientation, adjusting for socioeconomics, trust in government, COVID-19 vaccination status, and frequen...

Memory profiles distinguish cross-reactive and virus-specific T  cell immunity to mpox
Cell Host Microbe. 2023 Apr 25:S1931-3128(23)00166-X. doi: 10.1016/j.chom.2023.04.015. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMpox represents a persistent health concern with varying disease severity. Reinfections with mpox virus (MPXV) are rare, possibly indicating effective memory responses to MPXV or related poxviruses, notably vaccinia virus (VACV) from smallpox vaccination. We assessed cross-reactive and virus-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cells in healthy individuals and mpox convalescent donors. Cross-reactive T cells were most frequently observed in healthy donors over 45 years. Notably, long-lived memory CD8+ T cells targeting ...
