Congenital Toxoplasmosis and Long-term Outcomes
CONCLUSION: In our study, we observed severe sequelae in vision, hearing, and neurodevelopmental aspects in children diagnosed with CT at birth and during follow-ups. Early diagnosis and treatment of infants, along with the detection of Toxoplasma infection during pregnancy, are essential in preventing severe sequelae that may arise due to CT.PMID:38449361 | DOI:10.4274/tpd.galenos.2024.74046 (Source: Turkish Society for Parasitology)

Prediction of Surgical Outcomes in Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus by MR Elastography [NEURODEGENERATIVE DISORDER IMAGING]
CONCLUSIONS: MR elastography provides further insight into mechanical alterations in the normal pressure hydrocephalus brain and is a promising, noninvasive method for predicting surgical outcomes in patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus. (Source: American Journal of Neuroradiology)

Symptoms and signs did not predict outcome after surgery: a prospective study of 143 patients with idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus
This study confirms that the recorded clinical signs, symptoms, and impairments in the adopted clinical tests are characteristic findings in iNPH, based on that most of them improved after shunt surgery. However, our clinical data did not enable predictions of whether patients would respond to shunt surgery, indicating that the phenotype is unrelated to the reversibility of the iNPH state and should mainly support diagnosis. Absence of specific signs should not be used to exclude patients from treatment. (Source: Journal of Neurology)

Rare Sagittal Compensatory Balance in Neuromuscular Scoliosis Complicated by Hydrocephalus: A Case Report
CONCLUSION: In future cases of complex spinal deformity, it is important to observe whether there is cerebral ventricular dilatation on MRI before the operation. If severe thoracic lordosis is combined with lumbar scoliosis, over-correcting the lumbar scoliosis should be avoided to prevent shoulder imbalance.PMID:38430152 (Source: Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine)
