Risk of thromboembolic events associated with different multiple myeloma regimens in Taiwan: a nested case-control study
J Thromb Thrombolysis. 2023 Sep 22. doi: 10.1007/s11239-023-02887-7. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAlthough novel agents for multiple myeloma (MM) have a better response rate and survival in both newly diagnosed and relapsed/refractory MM patients, concerns regarding the association between MM treatments and thromboembolic events have been raised. The aim of this population-based study was to examine the association between different combinations of MM treatments and the risk of thromboembolic events. We conducted a nested case-control study using the Taiwan Cancer Registry (TCR) and National Health Insurance Research Data...

Disparities in Timeliness of Endometrial Cancer Care: A Scoping Review
CONCLUSIONS: Evidence gaps on disparities in timeliness of endometrial cancer care reveal emphasis of patient-driven help-seeking delays, reliance on health care-derived databases, underutilization of participatory methods, and a paucity of intervention studies.SYSTEMATIC REVIEW REGISTRATION: Given that PROSPERO was not accepting systematic scoping review protocols at the time this study began, this study protocol was shared a priori through Open Science Framework on January 13, 2021 (doi: 10.17605/OSF.IO/V2ZXY), and through peer review publication on April 13, 2021 (doi: https://doi.org/10.1186/s13643-021-01649-x).PMID:37...

Patient Experiences With Hand Surgery in the Office Versus Ambulatory Surgery Center
Conclusions Though costs and time off of work differed between the two groups due to the different procedures in either setting, patient satisfaction metrics were comparable. While patient satisfaction depends on the operating physician, these results demonstrate that patients treated in-office and in an ASC have similar levels of approval with their hand surgery care.PMID:37727164 | PMC:PMC10506845 | DOI:10.7759/cureus.43763

Real-World Treatment Patterns Among Patients with Connective Tissue Disorder-Related Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension in the United States: A Retrospective Claims-Based Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Treatment patterns were generally similar between the CTD + PAH and PAH cohorts, although combination therapy was more frequent in the CTD + PAH cohort. Both cohorts may benefit from broader use of all available PAH treatment classes, including combination therapy. Considering the life-threatening nature of PAH, our findings also highlight the need to address the low persistence rates with PAH therapies regardless of etiology.PMID:37728697 | DOI:10.1007/s12325-023-02658-z

The Evolving Practice of Hospital at Home in the United States
Annu Rev Med. 2023 Sep 20. doi: 10.1146/annurev-med-051022-042210. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHospital at Home (HaH) provides hospital-level services in the home to eligible patients who would otherwise require facility-based hospitalization. In the last two decades, studies have shown that HaH can improve patient outcomes and satisfaction and reduce hospital readmissions. Improved technology and greater experience with the model have led to expansion in the scope of patients served and services provided by the model, but dissemination in the United States has been hampered by lack of insurance coverage until recently. ...
