Comparative mortality according to peripheral artery disease and coronary heart disease/stroke in the United States
CONCLUSIONS: In the US adults, PAD contributed to increased mortality in persons with and without CHD/stroke. The prognosis of PAD without CHD/stroke was no better than that of CHD/stroke without PAD. Association and mediating mechanism between remnant cholesterol and first-ever stroke among the Chinese general population
CONCLUSION: High RC increased the risk of first-ever stroke in the Chinese general population without previous stroke and myocardial infarction, partially through the pathway of hypertension. Post ‐stroke hypertension control and receipt of health care services among veterans
Many ischemic stroke patients do not achieve goal blood pressure (BP < 140/90 mm Hg). To identify barriers to post‐stroke hypertension management, we examined healthcare utilization and BP control in the year after index ischemic stroke admission. This retrospective cohort study included patients admitted for acute ischemic stroke to a VA hospital in fiscal year 2011 and who were discharged with a BP ≥ 140/90 mm Hg. Impact of Sarcopenia on Functional Outcomes Among Patients With Mild Acute Ischemic Stroke and Transient Ischemic Attack: A Retrospective Study
CONCLUSIONS: In this study, the prevalence of sarcopenia in patients with stroke was lower than most of previous studies and patients with sarcopenia showed higher likelihood for unfavorable functional outcomes at 90 days after acute ischemic stroke or TIA. Predictors of Stroke Outcome Extracted from Multivariate Linear Discriminant Analysis or Neural Network Analysis.
CONCLUSION: Both the multivariate linear discriminant and neural network analyses identified the same indicators, such as nutritional status and serum ALP levels. These indicators were independently associated with functional stroke outcome.

Disturbed Ratios between Essential and Toxic Trace Elements as Potential Biomarkers of Acute Ischemic Stroke
CONCLUSIONS: Our research has shown that the disruption of the metal balance plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of AIS. Furthermore, our results broaden those of previous studies on the exposure to Cd and Pb as risk factors for AIS. Further investigations are necessary to examine the probable mechanisms of Cd and Pb in the onset of ischemic stroke. Association between geriatric nutritional risk index and stroke risk in hemodialysis patients: 10-years outcome of the Q-Cohort study
The geriatric nutritional risk index (GNRI), which is calculated using the serum albumin level and body mass index, is a nutritional marker associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events in patients who are receiving hemodialysis. However, no studies have examined the association between the GNRI level and the incidence of stroke in this population.
