Non-invasive right ventriculo-arterial coupling as a rehospitalization predictor in dilated cardiomyopathy: A comparison of five different methods
CONCLUSION: RVFW-LS/PASP and RVEF/PASP as non-invasive estimates of RVPAC are independent predictors of HF rehospitalization in patients with DCM.PMID:34939658 | DOI:10.33963/KP.a2021.0190

Implantation of ventricular assist devices in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with left ventricular systolic dysfunction
ConclusionsDespite a decreased right ventricular function with higher BNP values, patients with HCM-LVSD and DCM showed comparable outcomes post-LVAD implantation.

Modification of ventriculo –arterial coupling by spironolactone in nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy
ConclusionsIn NIDCM, adding MRA to conventional anti ‐failure therapy markedly improved LV ejection fraction and reduced peripheral vascular resistance, due to both improved LV contractility and especially to enhanced V–A coupling, as Ea decreased to normal. Total circulatory performance was a sensitive indicator of both LV pump performance and th e arterial loading conditions.

Mortality risk in dilated cardiomyopathy: the accuracy of heart failure prognostic models and dilated cardiomyopathy ‐tailored prognostic model
ConclusionsAn analysis of various HF prognostic models found them to be suboptimal for DCM patients. A self ‐developed DCM prognostic model showed improved performance over the nine other models studied. However, further validation of the prognostic model in different DCM populations is required.

A Novel Extracorporeal Continuous-Flow Ventricular Assist System for Patients With Advanced Heart Failure - Initial Clinical Experience.
CONCLUSIONS: This novel extracorporeal VAD system with a hydrodynamically levitated centrifugal pump can safely and successfully bridge patients with advanced heart failure to subsequent therapeutic stages. PMID: 32461539 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Epidemiology and Clinical Characteristics of Atrial Fibrillation in Patients with Inherited Heart Diseases
ConclusionUp to one third of inherited heart disease patients will develop AF. While common general population risk factors are key in patients with HCM, genotype is independently associated with AF. Amongst inherited arrhythmia syndromes, AF is less common, though often occurs below the age of 50 years. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Management of patients with newly-diagnosed atrial fibrillation: Insights from the BALKAN-AF survey
ConclusionsIn BALKAN-AF survey, patients with newly-diagnosed AF were more often hospitalized, less often received OAC and were more likely to receive SAPT alone. The use of OAC for stroke prevention has not been driven by the individual patient stroke risk.

A review of the epidemiology of atrial fibrillation in Sub ‐Saharan Africa
In conclusion, AF seems to have a higher prevalence in the general population than previously thought, and is mostly associa ted with hypertension, cardiomyopathy and rheumatic heart disease in SSA. It is associated with a high incidence of heart failure and stroke. The management of AF is suboptimal in SSA, especially with a low uptake of oral anticoagulation. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Is resynchronization therapy really efficient in laminopathy?
ConclusionCardiac resynchronization therapy seems to be less efficient in LMNA patients compared to usual implanted patients with other type of advanced cardiomyopathy. An impaired right ventricular stroke function seems to be the only predictive factor leading to poor response to CRT.

Echocardiographic profile of Congolese hypertensive patients.
CONCLUSIONS: Echocardiographic profile of the Congolese hypertensive is quite various, left ventricular hypertrophy is the most predominant abnormality. Efficient management on the hypertension will lead to reduce its morbidity and mortality. PMID: 30290912 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
