Optical Coherence Tomography Evaluation of Carotid Artery Stenosis and Stenting in Patients With Previous Cervical Radiotherapy
CONCLUSION: The morphological features of RICS were heterogeneous, including heterogeneous signal-rich tissue, dissection, and advanced atherosclerosis. Stenting was successful in all 5 patients with severe RICS. Plaque Evaluation by Ultrasound and Transcriptomics Reveals BCLAF1 as a Regulator of Smooth Muscle Cell Lipid Transdifferentiation in Atherosclerosis
CONCLUSIONS: Plaque echogenicity correlated with enrichment of distinct molecular pathways and identified BCLAF1, previously not described in atherosclerosis, as the most significant gene. Functionally, BCLAF1 seems necessary for survival and transdifferentiation of SMCs into a macrophage-like phenotype. Atorvastatin inhibits cholesterol-induced caspase-3 cleavage through down-regulation of p38 and up-regulation of Bcl-2 in the rat carotid artery.
CONCLUSIONS: The resultant data suggest that the anti-apoptotic effect of AV could be partially mediated by the pro-inflammatory protein p38 MAPK and the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 in the rat carotid artery. Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma in a Prosthetic Aortic Graft
We describe the case of a 70-year-old man with Marfan Syndrome who was found to have Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) within an ascending aortic graft, his native aortic arch and arch vessels. Ten years previously he had undergone a Bentall's Procedure for a dilated aortic root. He presented with a left middle cerebral artery stroke. Computed tomography (CT) scan revealed multiple filling defects within the aortic arch and branch vessels suggestive of thrombus. Following the stroke, his neurological deficit improved.

Utility of Global Longitudinal Strain by Echocardiography to Detect Left Ventricular Dysfunction in Long-Term Adult Survivors of Childhood Lymphoma and Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
Measuring left ventricular (LV) global longitudinal strain (GLS) is recommended in screening of long-term cancer survivors for cardiotoxicity. However, there are limited data on GLS in this setting, in particular in survivors with apparently normal LV function without risk factors of impaired GLS. In the present study, we measured GLS in 191 adult survivors of childhood lymphoma or acute lymphoblastic leukemia, with normal LV ejection fraction (EF) and fractional shortening (FS), and without known hypertension, diabetes mellitus, myocardial infarction or stroke.

Off-Hour Admission and Mortality Risk for 28 Specific Diseases: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of 251 Cohorts Epidemiology
Conclusions Off-hour admission is associated with increased mortality risk, and the associations varied substantially for different diseases. Specialists, nurses, as well as hospital administrators and health policymakers can take these findings into consideration to improve the quality and continuity of medical services.
