Using Clinical and Echocardiographic Characteristics to Characterize the Risk of Ischemic Stroke in Patients with COVID-19
Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) caused by infection with SARS-CoV-2 has been associated with a variety of systemic complications resulting in substantial morbidity and mortality.1 Early case series identified an elevated incidence of ischemic stroke in patients with COVID-19.2-4 In retrospective studies, ischemic stroke has been identified in 0.5-5.8% of patients hospitalized with COVID-19.5-10 Infection with COVID-19 has been independently associated with acute ischemic stroke compared with control subjects and the severity of COVID-19 syndrome correlates with risk acute stroke.

Susac syndrome complicating a SARS-CoV-2 infection
We present a case of a 40-year-old man diagnosed with Susac syndrome after COVID-19, presenting with acute sensorineural hearing loss, encephalopathy, a splenial “snowball-like” lesion, and branch retinal artery occlusions with distal arterial wall hyperintensity. Although the pathophysiology of Susac syndrome remains unclear, this case is in line with the ongoing debate about the influence of SARS-CoV-2 on the human immune system. COVID-19 Infection and Recurrent Stroke in Young Patients With Protein S Deficiency: A Case Report
Conclusions: SARS-CoV-2 infection potentializes the prothrombotic effect and vascular inflammation by accentuating protein S deficit. The place of steroids seems justifiable in the presence of symptoms of vasculitis in brain imaging.

Hypercoagulability of COVID-19 and Neurological Complications: A Review
The SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has resulted in millions of worldwide deaths. When the SARS-CoV-2 virus emerged from Wuhan, China in December 2019, reports of patients with COVID-19 revealed that hospitalized patients had acute changes in mental status, cognition, and encephalopathy. Neurologic complications can be a consequence from overall severity of the systemic infection, direct viral invasion of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the central nervous system, and possible immune mediated mechanisms.

Multifocal and Microvascular Involvement in Ischemic Stroke During COVID-19: A Cohort Study With Comparison With Non-COVID-19 Stroke
Conclusion: COVID-19-related stroke is characterized by hypercoagulability and hyperinflammation that may favor strokes via microvascular circulation abnormalities, microthrombus formation, and multifocal lesions.
