Health literacy is associated with less depression symptoms, higher perceived recovery, higher perceived participation, and walking ability one year after stroke - a cross-sectional study
CONCLUSION: The association between health literacy and mental, physical, and social functioning 12-months post-discharge suggests that health literacy is an important factor to consider in post-stroke rehabilitation. Nomogram including indirect bilirubin for the prediction of post-stroke depression at 3 months after mild acute ischemic stroke onset
ConclusionThe prevalence of PSD seems equally high even if the ischemic stroke is mild, which calls for great concern from clinicians. In addition, our study found that a higher level of indirect bilirubin can lower the risk of PSD. This finding may provide a potential new approach to PSD treatment. Furthermore, the nomogram including bilirubin is convenient and practical to predict PSD after MAIS onset.

Transcranial direct current stimulation for the treatment of post-stroke depression: A systematic review
ConclusionThis article simply aims at providing a comprehensive overview of the raw data reported in this field to date. Based on the current evidence, tDCS presents promising results for the treatment of PSD. Moreover, tDCS is also effective in PSD patients with aphasia or CPSP. However, an optimal stimulation protocol is needed to formulate. Cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) affects small arteries, arterioles, veins and capillaries of the brain. Although a common and often silent condition occurring among healthy elderly people, it is associated with stroke, dementia, gait disturbances, cognitive decline and depression.1 –4 Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) markers of CSVD include: white matter changes (WMC), microbleeds (MB) and lacunar infarctions (LAC).5 They can be investigated either individually or be viewed as a dynamic whole-brain disease.

Is the female sex associated with an increased risk for long-term cognitive decline after the first-ever lacunar stroke? Prospective study on small vessel disease cohort
ConclusionAt the long-term follow-up, women lacunar stroke survivors, compared to men, more frequently had CI in the presence of more severe vascular brain lesions, but this association was dependent on the occurrence of depression and severity of WMH, and could not be explained by differences in common vascular risk factors.

Efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine on poststroke depression in animal models: A systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionOur results suggest that CHM could significantly improve depression-like behavior and neurological function in animals with PSD. The current results should be interpreted with caution because only animal studies were included.

Feasibility of performing a multi-arm clinical trial examining the novel combination of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation and aerobic exercise for post-stroke depression
CONCLUSION: Performing a multi-arm combinatorial trial examining the effect of rTMS+AEx on PSD appears feasible.
