Exploring dimensions of quality-of-life in survivors of stroke with communication disabilities - a brief report
CONCLUSIONS: Survivors of stroke with communication disabilities are more negatively impacted across different dimensions of quality-of-life (as reported between 90 and 180 days post-stroke) compared to those without communication disabilities. Effects of wheel-running on anxiety and depression-relevant behaviours in the MCAO mouse model of stroke: moderation of brain-derived neurotrophic factor and serotonin receptor gene expression
We report that MCAO induced hypo-locomotion and anhedonia-related behaviours, with some improvements conferred by wheel-running. Serotonin transporter gene expression was increased in the MCAO hippocampus and frontal cortex, but this increase remained despite wheel-running. Wheel-running associated up-regulation of BDNF gene expression was unaffected in MCAO mice, reflecting conservation of key neuroplasticity molecular pathways. Taken together, our results highlight the need for further research into serotonergic modulation of the affective symptoms of stroke.PMID:35777551 | DOI:10.1016/j.bbr.2022.113983

Association Between Stroke Characteristics and Post-Stroke Fatigue: A Meta-Analysis
Conclusions: Our meta-analysis indicated that PSF was closely relevant to stroke type and had no significant relationship with stroke location. However, the findings should be interpreted cautiously. Thus, we suggest an updated meta-analysis on this subject when more comprehensive studies that explore the above issue are available.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Sleep Disturbance and Fatigue Following Acquired Brain Injury: Predictors of Treatment Response
Conclusion: Our findings highlight potential differences between fatigue trajectories in traumatic brain injury and stroke, and also provide preliminary support for the equivalence of face-to-face and telehealth delivery of CBT-SF in individuals with ABI.

Global cerebral ischemia (GCI) as a multi-dimensional disorder resulting from wide ranges of pathologic events including; asphyxia, arrhythmia, cardiac arrest as well as shock and affecting the entire brain.1,2 GCI increases reactive oxygen species (ROS) and cytokines and reduces brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), resulting in neuronal dysfunction in wide array of brain sites.3,4 Given the vulnerability of regions such as the hippocampus to the ischemic insults,5,6 GCI is commonly complicated by psychiatric disorders, the most common of which are post-ischemic depression (PID) and anxiety.

Current Trends in the Animal Models for Screening of Nootropic Agents
CONCLUSION: Since a variety of etiologies can affect the cognitive processes, hence a nootropic agent may be screened in a variety of disease models.
