Relevance of Cognition and Emotion for Patient-Reported Quality of Life After Stroke in Working Age: An Observational Cohort Study
ConclusionsThree months post-stroke, working age persons with stroke frequently reported problems in dimensions not assessed by the routinely used mRS. Despite correlations between clinical scales and QoL, patient-reported outcomes and screening for cognition and emotion ensure a more comprehensive assessment of post-stroke consequences relevant for QoL.

AbstractSubarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) leads to significant long-term cognitive deficits, so-called the post-SAH syndrome. Existing neurological scales used to assess outcomes of SAH are focused on sensory-motor functions. Disruption of Sonic Hedgehog Signaling Accelerates Age-Related Neurogenesis Decline and Abolishes Stroke-Induced Neurogenesis and Leads to Increased Anxiety Behavior in Stroke Mice
In this study, using conditional knockout (cKO) of SHH signaling receptorSmo gene in NSCs, we show a decreased neurogenesis at both SVZ and SGZ in young-adult mice and an accelerated depletion of neurogenic cells in the process of aging suggesting that SHH signaling is critical in maintaining neurogenesis during aging. Health and cognition among adults with and without Traumatic Brain Injury: A matched case-control study
CONCLUSION: Individuals with TBI have greater odds of selected neurobehavioral conditions compared to their demographically similar uninjured peers. Among persons with TBI there was a stronger association between poorer self-rated health and cognition than controls. Patient-Reported Anxiety/Depression After Endovascular Thrombectomy: A post-hoc Analysis of Direct-MT Trial
ConclusionsPatient-reported anxiety/depression may suggest that there is a benefit to administering intravenous alteplase before EVT. It may also indicate that it is better to provide IV alteplase before EVT, rather than EVT alone according to patient-reported anxiety/depression. Future research should consider not only the motor function impairments but also the patient-reported mental problems as measures of treatment efficacy in patients with stroke (DIRECT-MT ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT03469206).

Functional seizures are associated with cerebrovascular disease and functional stroke is more common in patients with functional seizures than epileptic seizures
CONCLUSION: Our results confirm the initial observation of increased CVD in patients with FSe and further suggest that patients with FSe may be predisposed to developing another functional neurological disorder (FND) (i.e., functional stroke).
