Diabetes mellitus and adverse outcomes after carotid endarterectomy: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: In patients with carotid stenosis treated by CEA, DM is associated with short-term and long-term MAEs. DM may have a greater impact on adverse outcomes in asymptomatic patients after CEA. Insulin-dependent DM may have a more significant impact on post-CEA adverse outcomes than noninsulin-dependent DM. Assessment of Carotid Intraplaque Neovascularization Using Superb Microvascular Imaging in High Risk of Stroke Individuals: Results From a Community-Based Study
Conclusions: Moderate to marked intraplaque neovascularization detected by SMI was more likely in subjects with a history of any territory stroke or TIA or thicker plaque. This indicates a potential new role of SMI in stratifying future risk of stroke or other arterial disease complications.

P-004 30 day results of revascularization of extracranial carotid artery stenosis (recas) trial in mainland china
This study is registered, number NCT01994187. Results The trial enrolled 2762 patients (CAS group, n=1543; CEA group, n=1176; CEA+CAS group, n=43). The primary end point was achieved in 4.47% (69/1543) in patients treated with carotid artery stents, and 4.93% (58/1176) in patients treated with carotid endarterectomy, an absolute difference of 0.46%.
