Investigation of Combined Carotid Endarterectomy and Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery Outcomes and Adverse Event Risk Factors in the Vascular Quality Initiative
CONCLUSIONS: Combined CEA and CABG provides excellent long-term mortality prevention in patients with co-existing severe coronary and carotid atherosclerosis. Simultaneous CEA and CABG provides equivalent stroke prevention and long-term survival to both a cohort of patients undergoing coronary revascularization within 5 years of CEA and patients undergoing isolated CEA or CABG in the literature. The two most impactful modifiable risk factors towards long-term stroke and mortality prevention for patients undergoing simultaneous CEA-CABG are patch placement at CEA site and adherence to statin medication therapy.PMID:37303074...

O-007 First US multicenter experience using the pipeline flex embolization device with shield technology for treatment of intracranial aneurysms - periprocedural outcomes and early safety profile
ConclusionOur study is the first to report the early experience with the newly FDA-approved PED Flex with Shield technology amongst US centers. Our results are comparable with non-US, international studies showing a high technical success rate and safe peri-procedural angiographic and patient outcome. Ability to Suppress TGF- β-Activated Myofibroblast Differentiation Distinguishes the Anti-pulmonary Fibrosis Efficacy of Two Danshen-Containing Chinese Herbal Medicine Prescriptions
Conclusion: This study suggests that a clinically efficacious cardiovascular Chinese herbal medicine (DLP) can be successfully repurposed to treat a lung disease in pulmonary fibrosis guided by TCM theory. Our comparative study between DLP and DHP demonstrated a critical requirement of suppressing both pro-inflammatory and pro-fibrotic pathways for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis, supporting that a multi-component prescription capable of “removing both phlegm and blood stasis” will better achieve co-protection of heart and lung in PHD. Conclusions Among only a few identification methods, the ICAS-LVO can be feasibly identified by angiographical findings. The identification of ICAS-LVO based on based on occlusion type, is a reliable and practical identification method for ICAS-LVO. Procedural details by occlusion type and its predictability to endovascular results were reported. Conclusion Matricidal aneurysms require careful consideration and planning. The restricted anatomy of the cavernous sinus can make successful execution of endovascular interventions difficult. Direct elastic compression of the parent artery does not respond to angioplasty and stenting the way that atherosclerotic stenosis does. IP131. Transfemoral Carotid Angioplasty and Stenting With Embolic Protection: A 7-year Retrospective Analysis of a Single-Center Experience
Carotid angioplasty and stenting (CAS) is an excellent, often superior, alternative to carotid endarterectomy (CEA). When performed by experienced operators, both are equivalent in periprocedural risk and stroke prevention. Widespread adoption of CAS in the United States has been impeded by reimbursement regulations mandated by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that favor CEA over CAS for patients with asymptomatic carotid disease. This policy has led to decreased CAS volumes and an increase in percentages of patients receiving CAS for symptomatic vs asymptomatic disease.

Endovascular Treatment of Acute Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion: Comparison of Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty and Mechanical Embolectomy (P4.298)
CONCLUSIONS: Data from this national multicenter registry showed that both PTA and ME represent safe and effective recanalization methods of acute MCAo. Bridging therapy was associated with better clinical outcome in the case of ME+IVT than PTA+IVT combination.
