Triglyceride glucose-body mass index and cardiovascular mortality in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis: a retrospective cohort study
Recent studies have shown that triglyceride glucose-body mass index (TyG-BMI) is associated with the risk of ischemic stroke and coronary artery disease. However, little attention has been given to the associa...

Global Economic Burden Associated with Chronic Kidney Disease: A Pragmatic Review of Medical Costs for the Inside CKD Research Programme
CONCLUSION: Globally, CKD carries a significant economic burden, which increases substantially with increasing disease severity. We identified significant gaps in published costs and inconsistent costing definitions. Cost-effective interventions that target primary prevention and disease progression are essential to reduce CKD burden. Our results can be used to guide cost collection and facilitate better comparisons across countries/regions to inform healthcare policy.PMID:37493856 | DOI:10.1007/s12325-023-02608-9

Novel Uses for Peritoneal Dialysis
Apart from its use in patients with end-stage kidney disease or acute kidney injury, there has recently been interest in the potential use of peritoneal dialysis for other, nonrenal indications. Herein, we review two nonrenal areas that are currently being evaluated: use of liposomal-supported peritoneal dialysis for the removal of endogenous and exogenous toxins and use of peritoneal dialysis to reduce risk of secondary brain injury following ischemic stroke.Blood Purif

Poorly Differentiated Lung Cancer with Intracardiac Extension Causing Malignant Stroke in a Peritoneal Dialysis Patient: a Case Report
SN Compr Clin Med. 2022;4(1):255. doi: 10.1007/s42399-022-01331-w. Epub 2022 Nov 14.ABSTRACTCardiac involvement occurs in an almost one quarter of all the patients with lung cancer. Lymphatogenous spread is a more common route of tumor dissemination than the hematogenous spread. It was a retrospective case report. We hereby report a case of myocardial involvement by non-small cell lung cancer leading to an uncommon presentation of a malignant stroke and death in a peritoneal dialysis patient.PMID:36404986 | PMC:PMC9662106 | DOI:10.1007/s42399-022-01331-w

Death and cardiovascular outcomes in end-stage renal failure patients on different modalities of dialysis
CONCLUSION: The short-term incidence of death and AMI remains high in Singapore. Future studies should investigate the benefits of a tighter control of cardiovascular risk factors among ESRF patients on dialysis.PMID:35373236
