Outcomes of Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery Versus Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Patients Aged 18-45 Years with Diabetes Mellitus.
CONCLUSIONS: In DM patients aged 18-45 years, the cumulative survival rate, and freedom from MI and repeat revascularization for CABG were superior to those of PCI. However, a better trend to avoid stroke was observed with PCI. PMID: 29237922 [PubMed - in process]

Plasma Metal Concentrations and Incident Coronary Heart Disease in Chinese Adults: The Dongfeng-Tongji Cohort
Conclusions: Our study suggested that incident CHD was positively associated with plasma levels of titanium and arsenic, and inversely associated with selenium. Additional research is needed to confirm these findings in other populations. https://doi.org/10.1289/EHP1521 Received: 22 December 2016 Revised: 17 September 2017 Accepted: 19 September 2017 Published: 19 October 2017 Address correspondence to T. A Systematic Review of Direct Cardiovascular Event Costs: An International Perspective
ConclusionsThere was considerable unexplained variation in contemporary costs for all major cardiovascular events. One emerging theme was that average costs in the USA were considerably higher than anywhere else.

Outcome differences between surgeons performing first and subsequent coronary artery bypass grafting procedures in a day: a retrospective comparative cohort study
Conclusions For a technically challenging surgical procedure like off-pump CABG, prior workload adversely affected patient outcomes.

Implications of left atrial volume index in patients with three-vessel coronary disease: A 6.6-year follow-up cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: LAVI is a potential index for risk stratification and therapeutic decision-making in patients with three-vessel coronary disease. CABG is associated with improved long-term outcomes compared with MT alone, regardless of LAVI quartiles. When LAVI is severely elevated, PCI is associated with higher risk of cardiac death than CABG.PMID:37262047 | DOI:10.1097/CM9.0000000000002723

GDF ‐15 at admission predicts cardiovascular death, heart failure, and bleeding outcomes in patients with CAD
ConclusionsIn patients with CAD, admission levels of GDF-15 were associated with an increased 1  year risk of CV death, HF, and bleeding outcomes, but not with thrombotic events. GDF-15 may be a prognostic biomarker for CV death, HF, and bleeding outcomes and could be used to refine the risk assessment of these specific clinical outcomes.Trial Registration:ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT04044066

Comparison of Long-term Outcomes in Patients with Premature Triple-vessel Coronary Disease Undergoing Three Different Treatment Strategies: A Prospective Cohort Study.
CONCLUSIONS: PCI and CABG provided equal long-term benefits for all-cause death and cardiac death for PTVD patients. Patients undergoing MT alone had the worst long-term clinical outcomes. TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov; Identifier: NCT02634086. https://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/record/NCT02634086?term=NCT02634086&rank=1. PMID: 29271373 [PubMed - in process]

Total Arterial Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting: A 10-Year Experience.
Conclusions: Total arterial OPCAB with bilateral IMA, radial artery, and right gastroepiploic artery grafting yielded satisfactory early and midterm outcomes in this patient group, without a significant increase in early mortality or morbidity. Moreover, the long-term outcomes are also positive. PMID: 30203792 [PubMed - in process]

Elevated postoperative serum uric acid is associated with major adverse events following coronary artery bypass grafting
ConclusionsElevated postoperative SUA level is associated with poor clinical outcomes after CABG. Patients with high postoperative SUA levels after CABG might require to be closely monitored.

Identifying coronary artery bypass grafting patients at high risk for adverse long-term prognosis using serial health-related quality of life assessments
CONCLUSIONS: Baseline MCS and changes in MCS were independent predictors for long-term mortality of CABG. Better mental health status and recovery indicated better prognosis.PMID:37620281 | DOI:10.1097/CM9.0000000000002806
