Late Stroke: Comparison of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Versus Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting in Patients With Multivessel Disease and Unprotected Left Main Disease: A Meta-Analysis and Review of Literature Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— There is a significantly lower risk of stroke within 30 days and cumulative stroke with PCI as compared with CABG up to year 5. There is no late catch up of stroke in the PCI arm. The risk of stroke should be weighed in deciding between revascularization strategies.

Incidence, Trends, and Predictors of Ischemic Stroke 30 Days After an Acute Myocardial Infarction Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— The incidence of ischemic stroke within 30 days of an AMI has decreased during the period 1998 to 2008. This decrease is associated with increased use of acetylsalicylic acid, P2Y12 inhibitors, statins, and percutaneous coronary intervention.

Stroke in Patients With Aortic Stenosis: The Simvastatin and Ezetimibe in Aortic Stenosis Study Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— In patients with aortic stenosis not prescribed oral anticoagulation, atrial fibrillation, AVR with concomitant coronary artery bypass grafting, and CHA2DS2-VASc score were the major predictors of stroke. CONCLUSION: The incidence of stroke after systematic OPCAB was low. Early and delayed strokes were equally distributed. Stroke mechanisms were predominantly embolic. Early and delayed stroke differed in their mechanisms. Stroke and mortality rates after off-pump vs pump-assisted/no-clamp coronary artery bypass grafting
CONCLUSIONS: A hybrid strategy incorporating off-pump, pump-assisted, and combined offpump/pump-assisted techniques achieved very low stroke rates in patients undergoing coronary revascularization. Perioperative mortality was similar for all three techniques. Avoiding aortic clamping may be crucial for decreasing CABG-related stroke rates. Off-pump/no-bypass surgery had no significant advantage over the pump-assisted/no-clamp or combined techniques in reducing the stroke rate after coronary artery bypass grafting surgery.PMID:36168952 | DOI:10.23736/S0021-9509.22.12337-2
