Stroke Volume Variation and Stroke Volume Index Can Predict Fluid Responsiveness after Mini-Volume Challenge Test in Patients Undergoing Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy.
Conclusions: SVV and SVI effectively predicted fluid responsiveness after the mini-volume challenge test in patients placed under pneumoperitoneum and in the reverse Trendelenburg position. PMID: 31861707 [PubMed - in process]

Adipose tissue derived stromal vascular fraction as an adjuvant therapy in stroke rehabilitation: Case reports
Introduction: Stroke often causes residual hemiparesis, and upper extremity motor impairment is usually more disabling than lower extremity in those who are suffering from post-stroke hemiparesis. Cell therapy is one of the promising therapies to reduce post-stroke disability. Patient concerns: Three male participants were included in the study to investigate the feasibility and tolerability of autologous adipose tissue derived stromal vascular fraction. Diagnosis: All participants had hemiparesis after 1st-ever stroke longer than 6 months previously. Interventions: Under general anesthesia, liposuction of abdom...

Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on a Regional Stroke Thrombectomy Service in the United Kingdom
Conclusion: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on the stroke admission numbers but not stroke thrombectomy rate, successful recanalization rate, or early neurological outcome. Internal delays actually improved during the COVID-19 pandemic. Further studies should examine the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on longer term outcome.Cerebrovasc Dis

Anesthesia for Acute Ischemic Stroke: Updates and Ongoing Debates
AbstractPurpose of ReviewAdvancements in stroke therapeutics and endovascular therapy in the last decade have dramatically changed the management of acute ischemic stroke, the structure of stroke care pathways, and demand for anesthesia resources. This review outlines the evolving perspectives on anesthetic management for the thrombectomy patient, including areas of debate, current recommendations, and future directions for research.Recent FindingsKey concepts in stroke care include immediate medical attention, emergent transfer to a stroke facility, physiologic and hemodynamic stabilization, and rapid recanalization. Alth...

Plethysmography Variability Index and Stroke Volume Variation Changes in Relation to Central Venous Pressure Changes During Living Related Donor Right Hepatotomy: A Diagnostic Test Accuracy
CONCLUSIONS: Plethysmography variability index and stroke volume variation showed negligible correlation and poor agreement with central venous pressure. Transfusion-free dissection was possible despite normovolemia, with median values of 8 mm Hg central venous pressure, 10% stroke volume variation, and 12% plethysmography variability index. Plethysmography variability index and stroke volume variation were unable to discriminate donors with increased blood loss.PMID:34085912 | DOI:10.6002/ect.2021.0546
