Ischemic Stroke as the First Manifestation of Hepatic Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma
In conclusion, hypercoaguable state related to hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma can lead to an ischemic stroke, as a rare first manifestation of the disease.

Perioperative stroke associated in-hospital morbidity and in-hospital mortality in common non-vascular non-neurological surgery
This study identified perioperative stroke as an independent predictor of 30-day in-hospital morbidity and mortality following non-vascular, non-neurological surgery.

Stroke Volume Variation and Stroke Volume Index Can Predict Fluid Responsiveness after Mini-Volume Challenge Test in Patients Undergoing Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy.
Conclusions: SVV and SVI effectively predicted fluid responsiveness after the mini-volume challenge test in patients placed under pneumoperitoneum and in the reverse Trendelenburg position. PMID: 31861707 [PubMed - in process]

The impact of intra-abdominal pressure on the stroke volume variation and plethysmographic variability index in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Authors: Liu F, Zhu S, Ji Q, Li W, Liu J Abstract The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effect of increasing intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) on stroke volume variation (SVV) and plethysmographic variability index (PVI) in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy. PVI examined by Masimo Radical 7 pulse oximeter and SVV determined using FloTrac/Vigileo were monitored simultaneously in forty-five patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). Mean arterial blood pressure (MAP), heart rate (HR), cardiac index (CI), perfusion index (PI), airway pressures (P), SVV, and PVI were also recorded...

Pneumoperitoneum affects stroke volume variation in humans
Conclusion A pneumoperitoneum increased SVV, which is similar to the findings of previous animal studies but is different from a previous clinical study. Upon release of the pneumoperitoneum, SVV decreased significantly, which is new information. SVV values must be estimated cautiously during a pneumoperitoneum.

Red blood cell transfusion to treat or prevent complications in sickle cell disease: an overview of Cochrane reviews.
CONCLUSIONS: This overview provides support from two high-quality Cochrane Reviews for the use of RBC transfusions in preventing stroke in children and adolescents at high risk of stroke (abnormal TCDs or SCI) and evidence that it may decrease the risk of SCI in children with abnormal TCD velocities. In addition RBC transfusions may reduce the risk of ACS and painful crisis in this population. This overview highlights the lack of high-quality evidence in adults with SCD and the number of reviews that have no evidence for the use of RBC transfusions across a spectrum of SCD complications. Also of concern is the variable and ...

Effects of pneumoperitoneum on hemodynamics evaluated by continuous noninvasive arterial pressure monitoring. A single-center observational study
CONCLUSIONS: In patients undergoing elective cholecystectomy, CNAP monitoring showed significant hemodynamic changes that would have been underappreciated with standard non-invasive monitoring with increase in arterial elastance under stable preload conditions. Whether this effect is due to unknown cardiovascular diseases facilitating ventriculo-arterial decoupling remains to be determined.KEY WORDS: Arterial Elastance, Cardiac Outp, Pneumoperitoneum, Stroke Volume, Stroke Volume Variation.PMID:37530058
