Percutaneous coronary intervention versus coronary artery bypass graft for stable angina: Meta-regression of randomized trials
Conclusion: PCI significantly reduces the risk of stroke compared to CABG particularly in female patients: however the risk of revascularization is increased with PCI, especially in women and in those with diabetes.

Outcomes After Carotid Artery Stenting in Medicare Beneficiaries, 2005 to 2009
Conclusions and RelevanceCompeting risks may limit the benefits of CAS in certain Medicare beneficiaries, particularly among older and symptomatic patients who have higher periprocedural and long-term mortality risks. The generalizability of trials like the SAPPHIRE or CREST to the Medicare population may be limited, underscoring the need to evaluate real-world effectiveness of carotid stenosis treatments.

Assessment of Ticagrelor Versus Clopidogrel Treatment in Patients With ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction Undergoing Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
Conclusions: Among patients with STEMI undergoing PPCI, ticagrelor reduces the incidence of MACCE and the composite end point of cardiovascular death, nonfatal MI, and stroke compared with clopidogrel. Ticagrelor also reduces the need for GPIIb/IIIa inhibitors. However, no significant difference was observed in the risk of bleeding between the 2 groups.

Outcomes of Carotid Endarterectomy with Primary Closure
Conclusions This study presents our experience with complications after primary closure after CEA. In our experience, CEA is a safe and effective surgical means of preventing stroke in the short term. Well-designed prospective studies are needed to confirm specific patient characteristics in which primary closure and patch angioplasty are indicated. Endovascular Reperfusion for Acute Isolated Cervical Carotid Occlusions: The Concept of “Hemodynamic Thrombectomy”
Conclusions: The endovascular recanalization of isolated cervical carotid occlusions presenting with acute ischemic stroke symptoms is feasible. Because isolated cervical carotid occlusions are associated with hemodynamic ischemic symptoms, if carotid recanalization cannot be achieved, stenting other cervical arteries ’ stenoses, with a focus on intracranial flow improvement, appears to be a reasonable strategy. Large controlled studies are necessary to assess the safety and efficacy of recanalization of acute isolated cervical carotid occlusions.Intervent Neurol 2019;8:27 –37

Medium-term results of undersized angioplasty and stenting for symptomatic high-grade intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis with Enterprise.
CONCLUSION: In this retrospective single-center study undersized balloon angioplasty and deployment of a self-expandable stent with relatively low radial force was safe and effective for endovascular treatment of high-grade intracranial arterial stenosis with high technical success rate, low periprocedural complication rates and favorable medium-term follow-up results. Dual anti-platelet therapy following percutaneous coronary intervention in a population of patients with thrombocytopenia at baseline: a meta-analysis.
CONCLUSIONS: According to the results of this analysis, DAPT might have to be cautiously be used following PCI in a population of patients with thrombocytopenia at baseline due to the significantly higher bleeding rate including gastro-intestinal, intra-cranial bleeding and hemorrhagic stroke. Hence, special care might have to be taken when considering anti-platelet agents following PCI in these high risk patients. However, considering the present limitations of this analysis, this hypothesis will have to be confirmed in future trials. PMID: 32334636 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Antithrombotic strategy variability in atrial fibrillation and obstructive coronary disease revascularised with percutaneous coronary intervention: primary results from the AVIATOR 2 international registry
CONCLUSIONS: The AVIATOR 2 study is the first digital health study examining physician-patient perspectives on ATT choices after AF-PCI. TT was the most common strategy without differences in 1-year outcomes in ATT strategy. Physicians rated safety first when prescribing ATT; patients feared stroke over bleeding.CLINICALTRIALS: gov: NCT02362659.PMID:35656720 | DOI:10.4244/EIJ-D-21-01044
