Sunnybrook Facial Grading System reliability in subacute stroke patients
CONCLUSIONS: The SFGS resulted reliable in its overall score to assess the facial palsy also in patients affected by stroke.CLINICAL REHABILITATION IMPACT: The findings of this study provide empirical evidence of reliable properties of the SFGS for assessing central facial palsy in patients with stroke.PMID:34105919 | DOI:10.23736/S1973-9087.21.06629-6

Italian translation and transcultural validation of an assessment tool for community ambulation in stroke survivors: the modified Functional Walking Categories (mFWC)
CONCLUSIONS: The Italian mFWC offers a valid tool for measuring community ambulation in stroke patients. Our work provides a validated and a cross-cultural adapted Italian version of the mFWC to accurately measure community ambulation both in clinical and research settings in Italy.PMID:35775498 | DOI:10.1080/09593985.2022.2094303

Relationship between serum insulin-like growth factor 1 levels and ischaemic stroke: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusion Higher serum IGF-1 was significantly correlated with a lower risk of ischaemic stroke. In view of the high degree of heterogeneity, it may need more studies to confirm the prognostic value of serum IGF-1 levels in ischaemic stroke and explore the sources of heterogeneity.

The effect of robot-assisted walking in different modalities on cardiorespiratory responses and energy consumption in patients with subacute stroke
DISCUSSION: By decreasing GF and BWS values during robot-assisted walking, adequate cardio-metabolic and energy response in both subacute stroke patients and healthy individuals could be achieved. These results show us that it is important to consider the cardiorespiratory function of the patient when choosing training protocols.PMID:36884354 | DOI:10.1080/01616412.2023.2188520

Lipid profiles and atrial fibrillation in ischemic stroke patients treated with thrombectomy: experience from a tertiary Italian stroke hospital
CONCLUSION: Total cholesterol and all cholesterol-related measures were significantly lower in patients undergoing thrombectomy than in other stroke patients. Conversely, we found that AF was significantly high in patients with EVT, suggesting that hypercholesterolemia could be mainly linked to small-vessel occlusion stroke while large vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke could show different causes. AIS patients may have different pathogenesis and their understanding may improve enhance the discovery of specific and tailored preventive treatments.PMID:37221691 | DOI:10.2174/1871525721666230522124351

Development of the Italian version of the trunk impairment scale in subjects with acute and chronic stroke. Cross-cultural adaptation, reliability, validity and responsiveness.
CONCLUSION: The Trunk Impairment Scale was successfully translated into Italian and proved to be reliable, valid, and responsive. Its use is recommended for clinical and research purposes. Implications for Rehabilitation Trunk control is an essential part of balance and postural control, constituting an important prerequisite for daily activities and function. The TIS administered in subjects with subacute and chronic stroke was reliable, valid and responsive. The TIS is expected to help clinicians and researchers by identifying key functional processes related to disability in people with subacute and chronic stroke. ...

Efficacy of Robotic-Assisted Gait Training in chronic stroke patients: Preliminary results of an Italian bi-centre study.
CONCLUSIONS: Both rehabilitation treatments do not change the compensatory strategies in chronic patients but the RGT offers to the patients a more intensive and controlled gait training increasing the gait endurance and decreasing spasticity in the lower limb.
