Impact on Prehospital Delay of a Stroke Preparedness Campaign Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—Our campaign was not effective in reducing prehospital delay. The outcome measures for loss of functionality in the activities of daily living of adults after stroke: a systematic review.
CONCLUSION: This review has emphasized the need for agreement among researchers as to which tool must be studied in depth or adapted to other national contexts in order to develop universal norms and standards.

Quality indicators in acute stroke care: a prospective observational survey in 13 Italian regions.
CONCLUSIONS: Our data confirm the need of quality monitoring in stroke care. Although SU patients showed a better adherence to quality indicators, overall compliance was unsatisfactory.

Community ambulation of stroke survivors at 6 months follow-up: an observational study on sociodemographic and sub-acute clinical indicators.
CONCLUSIONS: The presence of risk factors and clinical complications delay significantly the walking ability restoration and return to social life. Such status consistently with the patient's compliance must not postpone the rehabilitation relatively, rehabilitation must be facilitated with targeted programs taking care particularly of people with negative indicators for recovery of community ambulation 6 months post-stroke.
CLINICAL REHABILITATION IMPACT: Early indicators are considerable in order to predict a targeted prognosis and better provide a tailored rehabilitation program.

Stroke incidence and 30‐day and six‐month case fatality rates in Udine, Italy: a population‐based prospective study
ConclusionsOur study shows incidence rates higher than previously reported in our region but not supporting the view of higher incidence rates in Northern than in Southern Italy. Results contribute to time‐trends analysis on epidemiology, useful for dimensioning services in Italy and show the persistence of a gap between the outcome of stroke in Italy and that of the best performing European countries, urging to adopt better stroke management plans.

Conclusions
These findings suggest that, in a real world setting, very late endovascular therapy is feasible in appropriately selected patients.

Ischemic Stroke in the Very Elderly: Experience from an Italian Stroke Unit Hub Over a Period of 8 Years in the Era of Thrombectomy
Industrialized countries witnessed a staggering increase in life expectancy in the last century.1 In Italy, as in many western countries, demographic growth is stagnant and life expectancy reached an average of 84 years old.2 Since age is one of the most important non-modifiable risk factors for stroke,3 the number of patients affected by ischemic stroke will increase and elderly patients, who are particularly susceptible to vascular diseases, will eventually represent the majority of stroke victims.

Significant Association between OPG/TNFRSF11B Variant and Common Complex Ischemic Stroke
The serum level of osteoprotegerin (encoded by OPG or TNFRSF11B) was previously shown to be increased in patients with ischemic stroke. A single nucleotide polymorphism rs3134069 in the TNFRSF11B gene was previously associated with ischemic stroke in a population of diabetic patients in Italy. It remains to be determined whether rs3134069 is associated with ischemic stroke in the general population or populations without diabetes.
