Clinical course and risk factors for sleep disturbance in patients with ischemic stroke
ConclusionThe prevalence rates of sleep disturbance before and during the acute and chronic stroke periods were 34.3%, 37.4%, and 29.7%, respectively. The incidence of stroke-related insomnia was 15.6%. Patients with insomnia before stroke may recover after the stroke. Atrial fibrillation, hypertension, and mood disturbance were associated with a higher risk of sleep disturbance in the acute stroke period, whereas low education and mood disturbance were associated with insomnia in the chronic stroke period.

Pharmacological thrombolysis for acute ischemic stroke treatment: Gender differences in clinical risk factors
Conclusions Despite similarities in different areas of stroke care for both men and women, more women with diabetes, previous history of stroke and higher NIH scores are more likely to be excluded from thrombolytic therapy. Men with a previous history of stroke, hypertension and higher NIH scores are more likely to be excluded rtPA even after adjustment for confounding variables.

Stroke risk in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy patients with atrial fibrillation: a nationwide database study.

Association between the sarcopenia index and the risk of stroke in elderly patients with hypertension: a cohort study
This study included 5145 stroke-free elderly hypertensive patients. We used Cox regression models to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) of incident stroke. Over a median follow-up of 38 months, we identified 607 (11.80%) individuals with total stroke, of whom 507 (9.85%) had ischemic stroke and 93 (1.81%) had hemorrhagic stroke. Prior ischemic stroke is not associated with worse clinical outcomes in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention.

Risk factors of dysphagia in patients with ischemic stroke: A meta-analysis and systematic review
ConclusionsElder age, hypertension, diabetes and brainstem stroke are associated with the development of dysphagia in patients with ischemic stroke. Attention should be paid to the assessment and early intervention of those risk factors for dysphagia to improve the prognosis of stroke patients.

Proportion of stroke types in Madagascar: A tertiary-level hospital-based case series
ConclusionsOur study is the first to report the proportion of stroke types and known risk factors in Madagascar. We find that the proportion of hemorrhagic strokes was unexpectedly higher than that reported from other countries in sub-Saharan Africa. Our findings highlight the need for a country-specific approach to stroke prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation and provide guidance on public health resource allocation in Madagascar.

The Association of Lesion Location and Sleep Related Breathing Disorder in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke
ConclusionWe found no association of lesion location and SRBD in stroke patients, whereas established risk factors for SRBD, known from general population, were significantly associated with SRBD. Given the high prevalence of SRBD in stroke patients, these findings suggest that cerebral ischemia facilitates the occurrence of SRBD in patients with pre-existing risk factors rather than causing it by damaging specific central nervous system structures. Our findings can be used to identify stroke patients who might benefit from polygraphy screening.

Combined Effects of Family History of Cardiovascular Disease and Serum C-reactive Protein Level on the Risk of Stroke: A 9.2-year Prospective Study among Mongolians in China.
