Association between anti-apolipoprotein A-1 antibodies and cardiovascular disease in the general population. Results from the CoLaus study.
In conclusion, anti-apoA-1 IgG levels are independently associated with CVD in the general population and also related to CV biomarkers in secondary prevention. Topic Significance& Study Purpose/Background/Rationale: Hypertension (HTN) is a known complication during pediatric hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT). The risks for developing hypertension depend on a variety of factors including the use of drugs (calcineurin inhibitors, steroids, and chemotherapy), total body irradiation (TBI), renal injury, transplant associated thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) and sinusoidal obstructive syndrome (SOS). Uncontrolled HTN may lead to significant life-threatening complications including impaired renal and heart function, stroke, posterior reversible encephalopathy (PRES) and death.

Blood pressure control in anticoagulated patients with hypertension and atrial fibrillation.
CONCLUSIONS: More than 75% of hypertensive patients with AF achieved BP goals, and this rate was higher in elderly. More than 2 thirds of patients were on combined therapy. Results from Part A of the Hemoglobin Oxygen Affinity Modulation to Inhibit HbS Polymerization (HOPE) Trial (GBT440-031), a Placebo-Controlled Randomized Study Evaluating Voxelotor (GBT440) in Adults and Adolescents with Sickle Cell Disease
Conclusions: Data from Part A of the HOPE study demonstrate that treatment with voxelotor resulted in a dose-dependent increase in Hb with a large proportion of patients achieving Hb >1 g/dL improvement from baseline compared with placebo at 12 weeks. In addition, there was a dose-dependent decrease in hemolysis markers. Voxelotor was generally well tolerated at both doses. Hemolytic anemia of SCD has severe and life-threatening consequences and presents an unmet medical need. We identified this population to have an increasing frequency of hemolytic complications and sickle cell nephropathy with advancing age.
