Trends in cognitive function assessed by a battery of neuropsychological tests after mild acute ischemic stroke
Cognitive impairment is common after stroke. Most acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients show cognitive decline in neuropsychological assessments in the early phase of stroke.1,2 Post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) is a broad concept that has been used to define cognitive decline, fulfilling established criteria for cognitive impairment within the first six months following a stroke, which includes post-stroke dementia (PSD) and post-stroke cognitive impairment no dementia (PSCIND).3 Previous studies demonstrated that up to 90% of patients with ischemic stroke had cognitive dysfunction on detailed tests in the acute periods.

Report of stroke-like symptoms predicts incident cognitive impairment in a stroke-free cohort
Conclusions: Report of SS/TIA showed a strong association with incident cognitive impairment and supports the use of the Questionnaire for Verifying Stroke-free Status as a quick, low-cost instrument to screen for people at increased risk of cognitive decline.

Hyponatremia in the Prognosis of Acute Ischemic Stroke

Charting cognitive and volumetric trajectories after stroke: protocol for the Cognition And Neocortical Volume After Stroke (CANVAS) study
DiscussionMagnetic resonance imaging markers of structural brain aging and performance on neuropsychological tests are powerful predictors of dementia. We need to understand the trajectory of regional brain volume change and cognitive decline in patients after stroke. This will allow future risk stratification for prognostic counseling, service planning, and early therapeutic intervention.

Association of Hemoglobin A1c and Baseline Ischemic Stroke Severity: A Population-Based Study (P1.187)
Conclusions: We found that elevated HbA1c was associated with decreased stroke severity at presentation. However, this effect is mediated by the history of DM rather than a specific dose-effect of glycemic control. Prevalence of Amyloid Positron Emission Tomographic Positivity in Poststroke Mild Cognitive Impairment Brief Reports
Conclusions— The prevalence of amyloid-pathology in patients with PS-MCI is not increased when compared with cognitively healthy stroke survivors and to recent estimates for cognitively healthy elderly subjects. Associations of Circulating Growth Differentiation Factor-15 and ST2 Concentrations With Subclinical Vascular Brain Injury and Incident Stroke Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Circulating GDF-15 and sST2 are associated with subclinical brain injury and cognitive impairment. Higher sST2 concentrations are also associated with incident stroke, suggesting potential links between cardiac stress biomarkers and brain injury.
