Malnutrition Prevalence Rates among Dutch Nursing Home Residents: What Has Changed over One Decade? A Comparison of the Years 2009, 2013 and 2018
ConclusionEven though much attention has been paid to prevent malnutrition in Dutch nursing homes over the last decades, results show a relatively stable malnutrition prevalence rate of around 16%. This leads to the question if nursing staff is able to sufficiently recognize residents with (a risk of) malnutrition, and if they are aware of interventions they could perform to decrease this rate.

At which Hoehn & Yahr stage of Parkinson's disease should the patients be screened for dysphagia?
We read the ESPEN guideline on clinical nutrition in neurology by Burgos et  al. with great interest [1]. This guideline offers 88 recommendations for use in clinical practice for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, stroke and multiple sclerosis. In this guideline, the Clinical Question number 17 is as ‘‘When and how should patients with Parkinson's dis ease be screened for dysphagia?’’. A nonrestrictive, weight loss diet focused on fiber and lean protein increase
According to the World Health Organization, more than 1.9 billion adults age ≥18 year were overweight and more than 600 million adults obese worldwide in 2014 [1]. Excess weight significantly increases the risk for morbidity including hypertension, stroke, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoarthritis, and some types of cancers [2,3]. In the United States, obesit y remains a leading public health problem with 34.9% of adults and 16.9% of children who were obese between 2011 and 2012 [4].

What Are Endoscopic Bariatric Therapies?
The high prevalence of overweight and obesity in the United States negatively affects the health of the population. Obesity increases the risk of various diseases, including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, coronary heart disease, sleep apnea, stroke, gatroesophageal reflux disease, gall bladder disease, certain types of malignancy, and non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases.1,2 Reducing obesity in the United States has become a public health priority.1,2 Current approaches to therapeutic weight loss include dietary approaches, lifestyle intervention, pharmacology, and surgery.

Association between weight change and mortality in community living older people followed for up to 14 years. The Hordaland Health Study (HUSK)
ConclusionEven a minor weight loss of ≥5% or>3 kg were significantly associated with increased risk of mortality. Thus, weight should be routinely measured in older adults.

Milk and dairy products: good or bad for human health? An assessment of the totality of scientific evidence.
CONCLUSION: The totality of available scientific evidence supports that intake of milk and dairy products contribute to meet nutrient recommendations, and may protect against the most prevalent chronic diseases, whereas very few adverse effects have been reported. Nutritional assessment and post-procedural complications in older stroke patients after insertion of percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy - a retrospective study.
CONCLUSIONS: Essential information of the patient's nutritional status was poorly recorded which could affect the patient's nutritional treatment during the hospital stay.
